Call for Abstracts

PLEASE NOTE: DEADLINE FOR ABSTRACT SUBMISSION IS DECEMBER 10, 2008

The Scientific Committee invites authors to submit abstracts for consideration and inclusion in the programme. Abstracts should be submitted in English. Please find below instructions for preparation of abstracts.

Online Abstract Submission
Abstracts can be submitted only via the congress web site www.eos2009.fi where you will be taken step-by-step through the submission process. Abstracts sent by post or fax will not be accepted.

Abstract Submission and Format
Contact details of the presenting author, abstract title as well as authors and affiliations are filled in separately in the online abstract submission form. The abstract title (including spaces) should not exceed 200 characters and the body of the text should have a maximum of 2000 characters (about 300 words).
The abstract text should be organised into the following structured format: Aims, Materials (or Subjects) and Methods, Results, Conclusions (a statement such as “the results will be discussed” is not acceptable).

Number of Abstracts
Each author can submit only two abstracts as presenting author i.e. oral and poster/table clinic, two posters or poster/table clinic.

Abstract Submission Deadline
The deadline for abstract submission is Wednesday, December 10, 2008. Abstracts received after this date cannot be accepted.

Editing of Abstract after Submission
You will receive an abstract reference number and password in the automatic e-mail confirmation of your abstract submission. Before December 10, 2008, the abstract reference number and password will enable you to access and edit your abstract.

Evaluation of Abstracts
Abstracts submitted to the EOS congress 2009 will be subject to an independent, anonymous review process by a panel of reviewers. Only those abstracts with the highest total scores will be accepted as oral presentations. Abstracts with lower scores will be offered a scientific poster presentation, while those without a scientific base, such as patient reports or clinical tips, will be offered either a clinical poster or a table clinic presentation. If the number of submitted abstracts exceeds the space available, then it may be necessary to restrict the number of presentations offered to delegates.

Notification about Acceptance
You will receive notification about acceptance of your abstract by March 1, 2009. Detailed instructions will be sent to all presenters.

Registration of Presenting Author
All presenting authors must register for the Congress at latest by March 15, 2009 and pay the appropriate delegate fee.

Publication of Abstracts
Accepted oral and scientific poster abstracts will be published on the website of the European Journal of Orthodontics. An abstract book will be distributed to all delegates attending the Congress.
