Finland – the Congress Country
Finland is one of the Nordic Countries and a member of the European Union since 1995.
Finland has a population of 5.3 million people spread over more than 330,000 square kilometres, making it one of the most sparsely populated countries in Europe. Finland is a country of thousands of lakes and forests and plenty of untouched nature. A quarter of Finland’s territory lies above the Arctic Circle. During mid-summer the sun does not set at all in the northern part of the country.

Helsinki – the Congress City
Helsinki, “Daughter of the Baltic”, is the capital of Finland which is located in a beautiful maritime archipelago. It has good flight connections within Europe and the rest of the world.

Helsinki-Vantaa Airport is situated 20 kilometres north of the city centre. Helsinki is a lovely city which is interesting and friendly for visitors. Public transport is excellent and all necessary services are offered even for a demanding traveller within a compact area.

Finlandia HallFinlandia Hall – the Congress Venue
Finlandia Hall, the congress venue for EOS 2009, was designed by the famous Finnish architect Alvar Aalto and opened in 1972. Finlandia Hall is the leading concert and congress venue in Helsinki. It is centrally placed, yet set amid park-like surroundings. It is also within walking distance to all congress hotels.
