Finland – the Congress Country Finland is one of the Nordic Countries and a member of the European Union since 1995. Finland has a population of 5.3 million people spread over more than 330,000 square kilometres, making it one of the most sparsely populated countries in Europe. Finland is a country of thousands of lakes and forests and plenty of untouched nature. A quarter of Finland’s territory lies above the Arctic Circle. During mid-summer the sun does not set at all in the northern part of the country. Helsinki – the Congress City Helsinki-Vantaa Airport is situated 20 kilometres north of the city centre. Helsinki is a lovely city which is interesting and friendly for visitors. Public transport is excellent and all necessary services are offered even for a demanding traveller within a compact area.
