Instructions for Authors
Instructions for Oral Presentations
The scheduled time for each oral presentation is 12 minutes, followed by a 2-minute discussion. This is a longer time than has been allocated in previous congresses. With this in mind speakers are requested to stay within the time given. While the names of five authors may be included on the title of the abstract, only one author will be allowed to give the oral presentation.
All speakers must report to the Speaker Ready Room not later than 3 hours prior to the start of the session in which you are presenting. This will enable us to load your presentation onto the session disc. It will not be possible to load your presentation during the session. Only single projection using Microsoft PowerPoint will be available. Apple computers will not be available. Slide projectors or overhead projectors are not available. There will be no provision for laptops to be used at the lectern.
Fifteen minutes before the start of their session, all speakers are encouraged to sit in the front row of the auditorium below the lectern and to introduce themselves to the session chair and to the hall assistant on duty. This will allow the session chairman to introduce you to the audience and the assistant to familiarize you with the audiovisual equipment.
Please save your Power Point presentation on your storage medium with your name and date / time of presentation as follows: 12_June_AM_Smith.ppt, not just the name of the conference or EOS, Helsinki. This will prevent any confusion when loading the presentations on the main computer.
To ensure that the presentations are well prepared, we strongly advice you to bring your presentation to the Speaker Ready Room on USB Stick, CD-Rom or external hard-drive and check the presentation with the preview technical staff at least 3 hours before the start of your session. You may also bring your laptop for copying your presentation to the main computer.
Instructions for Poster Presentations
Posters will be gathered, numbered and listed according to the congress topics. They will be distinguished according to their content into scientific and clinical posters. Posters must be on display for the duration of the Congress. Authors must be present in the poster area to discuss their poster at a designated time, which will be notified.
The maximum size of the poster is 95 cm wide x 120 cm high (about 37 x 48 inches). Please note that this is a portrait (vertical) poster. The poster should be readable from a distance of 2-3 meters. This means that all lettering should be at least 8 mm high. Lettering on the title banner should be at least 20 mm high. Graphs and figures should be drawn with a minimum line width of 1 mm.
Table Clinics
Facilities for table clinics will be provided. The online submission system of the congress website
www.eos2009.fi will take you step-by-step through the submission of your abstract.
Important Notice
If you fail to present your accepted presentation you will not be allowed to give any presentation (either poster, oral or table) at the next EOS congress, which will be held in Slovenia in 2010.
