AinolaCongress Outing to Tuusula
Tuusula Lake area has a picturesque landscape with birch, rowan and pine trees. Since the end of the 19th century many famous Finnish artists lived there. The unspoiled nature inspired their creativity and works. You will enjoy a drive along the beautiful Lake Road to Ainola, home, and museum, of our national composer Jean Sibelius (1865-1957). His log house was designed by architect Lars Sonck and in the garden lies the grave of Jean and Aino Sibelius. The second visit destination is Halosenniemi, a red-pine wood villa designed and built by Pekka Halonen (1865-1933), one of the most beloved of Finnish painters. In honour of his love for nature, his home is now a nature preservation area. During this Finnish cultural history tour you will also enjoy a cello concert at the beautiful old Tuusula church by the lake. Lunch will be served at a local restaurant at the end of the tour. The tour ends either at the airport or in the city centre of Helsinki.
Please note: Tuusula is close to the Helsinki-Vantaa Airport (about 15 minutes drive by car), so you can easily go to the airport at any time during the tour if your flight departs on Sunday afternoon.
